Innova Announces Acquisition of Polo Films
Barueri, October 2, 2024
Innova, a Brazilian petrochemical and plastics processing company, announces the acquisition of Polo Films, a bioriented polypropylene films (BOPP) manufacturer in Montenegro (Rio Grande do Sul).
The operation aims to expand its presence in the BOPP segment, produced by the company since 2012 in Manaus (Amazonas) and, with the current takeover, also in Rio Grande do Sul.
Innova’s investment follows a strategy previously applied to its petrochemical business, with industrial plants located in Manaus (Amazonas) and Triunfo (Rio Grande do Sul), in the north and south of the country: this model will allow greater flexibility in serving national and global BOPP customers, with an increase in the level of service in production, delivery and product availability, even in the face of the climatic difficulties experienced in recent years.
The transaction is subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), as well as other conditions negotiated between the parties.
In the petrochemical area, we manufacture the following styrenic products: ethylbenzene (EB), styrene monomer (SM), general purpose polystyrene (GPPS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), expandable polystyrene (EPS), and the pioneering ECO-PS®, using up to 30% post-consumer material and PS-3D.
In the area of processed plastics, we manufacture bioriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, polystyrene (PS) and polypropylene (PP) reels, and plastic caps for PET bottles for use with mineral water, juices and soft drinks.
All these products are at the economy core and our plants are strategically located in Manaus (in the state of Amazonas) and Triunfo (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul), meaning we are always close to our customers, industries located from the north to the south of the country, and the rest of the world.
Our story comes from a time when image, sound, films, information, songs, needed a way to reach the public: media carriers.
Innova has its origin in Videolar, a manufacturer of blank and pre-recorded media (VHS, audio cassettes, floppy disks, CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs) reinvented as a petrochemical and processed plastics industry.
Until the last recorded media in 2022, it continues taking culture and leisure to the most remote corners of the country.
