High Impact Polystyrene or HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), is a 100% recyclable resin, obtained from styrene monomer (SM), with an addition of up to 13% of polybutadiene elastomer, providing greater strength and elongation.

High impact polystyrene (HIPS) is developed to grades that meet the specific needs of the various industrial segments, each with their own, respective applications.

Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid cellular plastic with highly versatile applications, from medicine packaging to infrastructure works, such as bridge headers, and in civil construction, as thermal insulation.

Innova uses extrusion technology to produce the expandable polystyrene beads in uniform size. This process is performed directly from the micropeletization of polystyrene and pentane as an excellent alternative to the traditional styrene monomer (SM) polymerization process, which consumes large amounts of water.

The final products are beads of up to 3 millimeters in diameter that expand up to 50 times their original size through steam application, melting and molding into a wide range of different shapes.

This new line in high impact polystyrene (HIPS) was created by Innova’s Technology Center in Styrenics (CTE), providing customers with the option of a 100% Brazilian resin, with competitive and logistical advantages as a replacement of those currently applied in this segment, all of which are imported.

The new PS-3D line provides two grades:

– PS-3D Standard offers an excellent balance of stiffness and impact resistance, recommended for general purpose applications and rapid prototyping;

– PS-3D Matte offers high impact resistance and a matte surface finish, ideal for parts design.

Bioriented polypropylene plastic films (BOPP) are 100% recyclable, and can be stretched in both directions, longitudinal and transversal, giving them high strength and flexibility. Hence the name: bioriented.

They have a broad range of applications, including flexible packaging, mainly for food, besides gift wrapping, flowers, labels for PET bottles for use with mineral water, juice and soft drinks, and adhesive tapes, amongst many other applications.

BOPP guarantees an effective barrier, preventing food from making contact with oxygen and humidity: this maintains the freshness, integrity and quality of the packaged products. It can be glossy, transparent, opaque, matte or metallized, and its visual aspect enhances its shelf life.
